The start of the BadmintonPlanet Youth Tournament is just a few days away! Through this post, we would like to share the final details to ensure everything runs smoothly.

training night (27 December)

The upcoming training evening will feature three different activities:

15:00 – 18:00 Workshop: “Tactics in Doubles”

Unfortunately, registration for this workshop has already closed. Participants who have signed up have received an email with further details.
 

18:00 – 21:00 Training Night

As mentioned earlier, preparation is key! During the training evening, players can rent a court to fine-tune their skills.

20:30 Manager Meeting

The manager meeting will take place at 20:30 in the sports canteen of Sporthal in de Biessen.
Main tournament U17

 

On Day 1 of the tournament, we will kick off with the U17 Main Tournament.

For players in the U11, U13, and U15 categories, we are excited to organize a team tournament on the first day of the event. This year, we are thrilled to welcome a record number of teams.

The first matches will start at 9:00 AM. Please make sure that the lineup for the first match is submitted to the tournament desk before 9:00 AM.

On the second day of the tournament, the main tournament for U11, U13, and U15 categories will commence. The start time for the matches is 9:00 AM. Matches will be held at three different venues as follows:

Starting this year, it is mandatory to pay the registration fee before the tournament begins. Most of you have already completed this during registration.

However, if there has been an issue or if you have not yet paid the fee, please feel free to contact us via email at info@badmintonplanetyouthtournament.nl.
 

Please note that failure to pay the registration fee may result in exclusion from the tournament.

The Badmintonplanet Youth Tournament in Hoensbroek is back, and this year it’s bigger and better! As players and their families enjoy the festive holiday season in the beautiful Limburg region, we’re adding an exciting new feature for participants in the U11, U13, and U15 categories.

We’re thrilled to introduce a Doubles Tactics Workshop, specially designed to enhance your skills and strategy on the court. And the best part? You’ll get the exclusive chance to train with your doubles partner just before the tournament, allowing you to fine-tune your performance and build that winning synergy.

In collaboration with Badmintonclub Victoria Hoensbroek, this hands-on coaching session will ensure you’re in top form for the tournament. Space is limited, so don’t wait—secure your spot now!

Workshop Details:

  • Date: December 27th, 15:00 – 18:00
  • Location: Sporthal In de Biessen, the official tournament venue
  • Focus: Tactical decision-making and game insights
  • Coach: Eefje Besselink, co-head coach of Badmintonschool Learn to Fly

Registration for the tournament can be done in several ways. These are explained below:
 

U11, U13, and U15 Single Entry

A single entry for our U11, U13, and U15 tournament can be made via our website through the following link:

Each player must be registered individually. When registering for a doubles event, ensure that the name of the doubles partner is filled in
.

U11, U13, and U15 Group Entry

Groups can register using the group registration form:

After filling out the group registration form, you can email it to info@badmintonplanetyouthtournament.nl.

Once the registration form has been submitted, you will receive an invoice for the registration fee. Your registration will be complete once the fee is paid.
 

U17

Registration for our U17 tournament is only possible through the badminton federation of your home country. For more information, please contact your badminton federation.

Finalestrijd tussen Portugal en Canada markeert het succesvolle 45e Carlton International Youth Tournament.

Hoensbroek, Nederland

Het 45e Carlton International Youth Tournament 2023 bereikte zijn hoogtepunt met een intense finale tussen Portugal en Canada . Het Europese topjeugdtoernooi, dat afgelopen donderdag van start ging, bood een platform voor ongeveer 500 jeugdspelers uit 18 landen, waaronder Frankrijk, Engeland, Finland, Denemarken, Duitsland, Zwitserland, en België. 

In 4 hallen in Hoensbroek, Heerlen, Brunssum en Beek, streden de deelnemers in 4 verschillende leeftijdscategorieën om de felbegeerde prijzen. Voor het eerst verwelkomde de organisatie twee getalenteerde spelers uit Canada in de U17-klasse, wat het toernooi verder internationaal karakter gaf.

De climax van het toernooi vond plaats in de U17-klasse, waar Tiago Berenguer uit Portugal na een zinderende wedstrijd de overwinning behaalde op Asher Bedi uit Canada. Berenguer, samen met de Nederlandse Flora Wang, veroverde ook de titel in het gemengd dubbel tegen Adam Srnec uit Tsjechië en Aurelia Wulandoko uit Duitsland. De Canadezen behaalden hun succes in de jongens dubbel terwijl de Deense Athene Lyduch Thornild het succes eerst in de enkel en daarna in de meisjes dubbel met Caroline Mouritsen wist te behalen. De U17-klasse, onderdeel van het Badminton Europe U17-circuit, bood jeugdspelers de mogelijkheid punten te scoren voor de Europese ranglijst, wat de competitie extra uitdagend maakte.

De wedstrijden in de leeftijdscategorieën U 13 werden dit jaar grotendeels beheerst door spelers/speelsters uit Denemarken. Maar liefst 4 eerste prijzen voor Tristan Norgaard Riis, Rosa Storm Callesen, Patrick Christensen en Laerke Mouritsen. In deze categorie wist onze nederlandse Mette van de Kool samen met haar belgische dubbelpartner Gaëlle de Cuyper een mooie 2e plaats te behalen bij de meisjes dubbel.

In de leeftijdscategorieën U 11 en U 15 werden door Nederlandse en Duitse speelsters maar liefs 5 eerste prijzen behaald. De nederlandse meisjes Dhwani Panikkar & Aminah Wongsodimedjo tegen Dakshita Goyat & Shriya Kulkarni zullen we vast vaker terug gaan zien.

Het toernooi verliep vlekkeloos dankzij de toewijding van talloze vrijwilligers en officials van Badminton Nederland. Na afloop van de finale namen de vermoeide, maar trotse winnaars hun prijzen in ontvangst onder luid applaus van een enthousiast publiek. Een welverdiende dank gaat uit naar de organisatoren van dit gewaardeerde evenement voor de top van de badmintonjeugd in Europa. Deelnemers en supporters spraken hun wens uit om elkaar in 2024 opnieuw te ontmoeten.
